Design

The majority of building projects will require design input.

This can come in the form of both a totally new design concept or carefully considered conservation proposals working in sympathy with the existing structure. Our design team is largely in house.

We undertake manual record surveys which help us understand a building in greater depth.

Plans are prepared in conjunction with CAD whilst still maintaining the quality of traditional drawing. From this, schemes are developed for client approval, statutory submission and tendering procedures.

We pride ourselves in working with our clients to achieve the right design and not imposing designs without consultation.

The design for each historic building project has naturally to be project specific. There are no catalogue answers for listed and nationally important structures. Ensuring that the correct design is evolved at the early stages of a project will save much time and money at a later stage, even if it delays the commencement on site. It is “design time” well spent.
